Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the great historic vineyards of Sauternes. A rigorous selection in the vineyard and in the cellars ensures the production of Château Suduiraut's wines, which are the accomplished expression of this exceptional terroir.
Terrior
Certified High Environmental Value (HEV),the estate comprises 91 hectares of vines, on gravelly, sandy clay soil. The stones capture the sun's heat, thereby helping the grapes to reach maturity more rapidly. It is this unique terroir that gives the wine its outstanding opulence.This thin soil which retains very little water leads to low yields. It concentrates the grapes' qualities and forces the vine to draw its nourishment from deep in the earth. The wine's relationship with the terroir is even stronger because of this, and it expresses itself with strongly-marked minerality. High vine density (7,000 vines per hectare)and the high average age of vines (35 years) are important factors in the quality of the wines, along with environmentally responsible wine growing methods, short pruning and tillage. Meticulous selection of the best botrytised bunches during harvest means that our Grand Vin Château Suduiraut is made only from the very best that the vineyard has to offer.The proportion of each grape variety used determines the wines' unique profile. 90% of the Suduiraut vineyard is planted with Sémillon vines and 10% with Sauvignon Blanc.Semillon is a traditional variety of the region. When it is infected with noble rot it has an ample structure on the palate and gives the wine great mellowness and unctuosity. Wines produced with Semillon grapes are remarkably aromatic: they evoke honeyed fragrances, grilled dried fruits, acacia blossom and candied citrus.Sauvignon Blanc has very characteristic aromas such as citrus, white peach, exotic fruits... When vinified as a liquoreux,or dessert wine, it adds a touch of acidity to the blend, bringing freshness and aromatic complexity.

S de Suduiraut.To produce this wine, we selected a specific plot of Suduiraut vineyard, planted mainly with Semillon vines. Our fine gravel and sandy terroir bring out fruit aromas and a beautiful freshness to the wine.Ageing is 10% in new barrels, 10 % from barrels of one vintage and 80% from old barrels for 9 months
A light yellow in colour, with hints of green. The nose is subtle, with aromas of flowers, white fruit and a touch of anis. The mouthfeel is generous with great tautness. The palate expresses notes of pear, white flowers, and the saltiness characteristic of our terroir.

Lovely uplift, minerality and juice. Excellent sense of dancing across the palate. Hard to quibble with the fresh citrus and lime, if straying just a little high in terms of the fresh acidity through the final furlong.

The 2018 Blanc Sec de Suduiraut has a vibrant and vivacious bouquet with white peach, greenapple and light apricot blossom aromas. l admire the delineation. The palate is well balanced with a ginger tingedopening, lovely apricot and mango fruit with a lively spicy, almost Alsacelike finish that is a joy. Excellent.

The nose is just a little closed, unfurling slowly to reveal warm apples, fresh peaches and lemongrass scents with hints of hay, celery seed and crushed rocks. Light to medium-bodied, the palate gives lovely freshness and plenty of chalky restraint, finishing minerally.
