The concept of a "Yorozuya" (literally "Jack-of-all-trades shop") originates from Japan. The owner of a Yorozuya takes care of various tasks for clients, including providing and recommending all kinds of products and services, and even sourcing specialized information.
In popular media, an early portrayal of a Yorozuya appeared in the 1975 Japanese TV drama "Shin Hissatsu Shiokinin" (also known as "Prospects for Success") starring Masatoshi Nakamura. The story follows three university graduates who, after struggling and facing setbacks in society, decide to form a Yorozuya. Fearlessly accepting a wide range of client requests, they strive to fulfill every task and share their experiences with others.
The Hong Kong version of a Yorozuya is embodied by Leung Tsz-shan, who passionately curates quality products from around the world. In recent years, as life in Hong Kong has grown increasingly challenging and emotionally draining, her Yorozuya offers genuine comfort and delightful surprises to uplift the spirits of its people.
